«Scottish dances»
Scotland is a part of the United Kingdom, located on the British Isles.
Scotland has nearly 800 islands, but people only live on some of them.
Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland.
The Scottish flag is known as St. Andrew’s Cross.
The population of Scotland is about 5,5 million.
Scotland is an amazing country with a rich history and culture. This state is associated with a traditional skirt (kilt) and bagpipes, haggis and Loch Ness monster.
Nowadays, this country is one of the most visited tourist places in the whole world. Scotland has a great history studded with thrilling myths, tales and legends. But not less popular is a Scottish dance. He became the embodiment of culture, traditions and history of the Scottish people.
The history of Scottish dances began in the fifth and tenth centuries. Returning with a victory after the battle, the warriors men performed this dance, celebrating success. The dance was performed on a small round shield, which is called "Tarj". There are several legends of the origin of these dances. One of them tells about a men and his grandson. The man taught his grandson to play bagpipes on the hill. Suddenly they saw a jumping deer. And the boy began to imitate the deer. Raised hands over his head depicted the horns of a deer.
There are several types of Scottish dance.
"Kaylee" (Kaylee) is a simple dance. They can dance anyone without special training. Kaylee Dancing is for a fun pastime. They often dance at weddings.
Country dances, ballroom dances (Scottish country dances) are fun paired group dances. They dance in pairs, men and women. People often dance the traditional holidays in Scotland.
