Robin the Bobbin
Robin the Bobbin, the big- belled Ben,
He ate more meat than fourscore- men,
He ate a cow, he ate a calf,
He ate a butcher and a half,
He ate a church, he ate a steeple,
He ate a priest and all the people,
A cow and a calf,
An ox and a half,
A church and a steeple,
And all good people,
And yet he complained that his stomach wasn’t full.
Cats ( by Mary Miller)
Anywhere,
Any table,
Any chair,
Cats sleep
Top of piano,
Window- edge,
In the middle
On the edge,
Open drawer,
Empty shoe,
Anybody’s
Lap will do,
Fitted in a
Cardboard box,
In the cupboard
With your frocks-
Anywhere,
They don’t care,
Cats sleep
Anywhere.
I’m a Brave, Brave Mouse.
I’m a brave, brave mouse
I go marching round the house
And I’m not afraid of anything.
For danger I’m prepared,
And I’ m never, never scared.
No, I’m not afraid of anything.
- What about a cat?
- What - a cat?
- Yes, a cat!
Big and fat!
- Well, except for a cat.
- What about a trap?
- What – a trap?
- Yes, a trap
That goes SNAP!
- Well, except for a trap.
Yours and Mine
The sun, the trees, the grass, the sky,
The silver moon that’s sailing by,
The rain and dew and snowflakes white,
The flowers sweet and stars of night!
The songs of birds, wind whispering,
The autumn leaves, the buds of spring –
Such lovely things to hear and see
Belong to you , belong to me!
I Want to Buy an Animal
I want to buy an animal,
I’d like to buy a cat,
But the dog is sure to kill it,
So I can’t buy that.
I want to buy an animal,
An elephant will do,
But our house has such a little door!
I’d never get through!
I want to buy an animal,
I’d like to buy a bird,
But father says, “Oh, stop that noise!
I can’t make myself heard!”
I want to buy an animal,
( I really don’t know why),
It must be very, very small,
And it must no make noise at all.
I think I’ll buy a fly.
Five Little Kittens
Five little kittens hid behind the door,
One walked out, then there were four.
Four little kittens climbed up a tree,
One jumped down, then there were three.
Three little kittens found a boat of blue,
One sailed away, then there were two.
Two little kittens were sitting in the sun,
One fell asleep, then there was one.
One little kitten visited the Zoo,
Now there are no kittens left to play with you.
Betty Botta
Betty Botta bought some butter,
But she said, the butter’s bitter.
If I put it in my batter
It will make my batter bitter.
But a bit of better butter
Will make my batter better.
So she bought a bit of butter
Better than her bitter butter.
And she put it in her batter
And the batter was not bitter.
So it was better. Betty Botta
Bought a bit of better butter.
My Mother
Who said me “ Good –night”,
When I was a child? – My mother.
Who dressed my dolls in clothes so gay
And showed me often how to play?
- My mother.
Who ran to help me when I fell
And who could funny stories tell?
- My mother.
Who sits at my head when I’m in bed
- My mother.
Who is so nice, who is so kind,
Another so dear you’ll never find?
- My mother.
