Scotland
Scotland is a part of the United Kingdom, located on the Вritish Isles and occupying approximately 30% of the island. Scotland is a very small country. It’s about 274 miles long. Scotland includes over 790 islands. The population of the country is about 5 million people

The symbol of the country is the thistle flower and the motto" No one can harm me with impunity " (Nemo me impune lacessit), which preaches some resentment against everyone and a wary attitude . Such an emblem demonstrates to all the severity and stubbornness of the Scottish character. This people is characterized by the desire to defend their identity, culture and traditions in any situation

Nothing reflects the identity and traditions of the people of Scotland more than national holidays. The culture and traditions of the population were formed under the influence of pagan and Celtic incidents. The holidays of Scotland are not very similar to the holidays that we used to celebrate in Russia.
These events are a kind of manifestation of the culture of the people, so they are always interesting and attractive for tourists.

New Year –
it begins to be celebrated on December 29-30 and ends on January 1-2. This holiday in Scotland is called Hogmanay. On New Year's Eve, people roll barrels of tar and thus burn all the bad things.

The birthday of Robert Burns
is a favorite national poet, whose work Scots are proud of, so January 25 is declared a public holiday here. Burns is considered a hero of the country, a great asset and talent. On this day, the locals arrange a special dinner, called Burns Supper (Burns Supper).

The Viking Age holiday
is one of the most interesting in Scotland, called Uphelio and is celebrated on January 29.
