Lurk –( v )wait or move in a secret way so that you cannot be seen, especially because you are about to attack someone or do something wrong:

Haunted – (v) A haunted place is one where ghosts often appear:
a haunted house
This room is said to be haunted.

rustling - the sound that paper or leaves make when they move:
-I could hear (a) rustling in the bushes.

Torture –
the act of causing great physical or mental pain in order to persuade someone to do something or to give information, or to be cruel to a person or animal:
-Half of the prisoners died after torture and starvation.

Chamber - a room used for a special or official purpose, or a group of people who form (part of) a parliament:
- Meetings of the council are held in the council chamber.
- a torture chamber
There are two chambers in the British parliament - the House of Commons is the lower chamber, and the House of Lords is the upper chamber.
Wander- to walk around slowly in a relaxed way or without any clear purpose or direction:
-We spent the morning wandering around the old part of the city.
-She was found several hours later, wandering the streets, lost.
-He was here a minute ago but he's wandered off somewhere.
Bend - a curved part of something:
-There's a bend in the pipe so you can't see from one end to the other.
-The car came around the bend on the wrong side of the road.
