Welcome to Morgaushi

Morgaushsky district is located in the northwestern part of the Chuvash Republic among mighty oak forests and green meadows, transparent rivers and lakes.
The main part of the territory is located on the right bank of the Volga and a small part is in the southwestern Volga region.
It borders on the Republic of Mari El from the north, Cheboksary from the east, Alikovsky from the south, and Yadrin Districts from the west. The territory stretches from north to south for 41 km, and from west to east for 23 km.

According to the linguist Sergeyev L. P., the name of the village of Morgaushi came from the name of the person "Morko", and "vash" means a kind, a tribe, that is, a kind of Morko (Morko yahe). The Chuvash researcher and ethnographer Zolotnitsky N. I. explained the origin of the name of the village as follows: small tribes of Cheremsh (Mari) once lived on the territory of Yadrin, Morgaushi, Cheboksary and other districts. He associated the word "morgash" with the Mari language. The Mari word "carrot" — "opposite meadows" means a village located opposite a meadow.

There is a school in the centre of the village. The school is three- storey
brick building which has its own patch of land.
1065 pupils study at our school and 71 teachers work here.

The children's Library is a multifaceted world in which a comfortable environment is created for any reader. This is a place where we learn to interact with the world around us.

The club is a place where young people come to discos.

On May 9, 2000, the regional Museum of Local History was opened in Morgaushy.

Monument to the soldiers in the Great Patriotic War.

The Great Patriotic War was a dramatic page in the history of mankind, my country and my village. Many people of my village took part in it. They were awarded orders and medals. By tradition we come to the memorial to commemorate the heroism of our people during the Great Patriotic War.

The monument to the mother is a copper figure of a woman standing at the gate waiting for her sons. She lost six of her eight sons in the war.

As the people of my village are religious there is a church in the centre of Morgaushi.
Old people gather
here every Saturday and Sunday and pray to the God asking for health, good life, good luck and well-being of our village.

Physical culture and sports center «Сывлах»
Classes and competitions in basketball, boxing, karate, judo, volleyball, tennis, badminton are held in the sports complex.

Ostrich Farm
Chuvash farmers breed African ostriches and other exotic birds in the Morgaus district. The farm is included in the list of the Golden Ring of Chuvashia as a tourist attraction. In addition to breeding exotic birds: African ostriches, peacocks and pheasants, local designers make ornaments from feathers and eggs of the inhabitants of the farm, arrange creative workshops for everyone.

There are very interesting places in the area! For example, you can see a wonderful waterfall which is more than 5 meters high. This is the only waterfall in the republic - in the area of the Volga river in Sheshkary of our district.

The largest oak in the Chuvash Republic grows in the Ilyinsky forestry of the Morgaushsky district, 9 km northeast of the village of Bolshoy Sundir and it is 475 years old.
