What do London people eat?

I’m English and I grew up in London, but many people here come from other parts of Britain or other countries. It’s very multicultural here. So there are lots of different types of food. Yesterday, for example, I had tortilla chips and lentil soup for lunch and Spanish omlette for dinner!

But if you want to try British food and eat like a real Londoner, then I suggest…

Start the day with an English breakfast – scrambled or fried eggs, bacon, sausages and grilled tomatoes with brown or white toast. And a big cup of strong tea milk. If you don’t have time, just make baked beans on toast!

Have lunch at around 12 to 2 pm. This can be a quick burger in a café, or ready-to-go sandwich or salad from a supermarket, with a packet of crisps and juice or water.

Around 4 or 5 pm it`s time for tea – with a biscuit or a cake.

Dinner is from 5 to 8 pm. It`s usually the biggest meal of the day. It can be pasta, roast meat (chicken, pork or lamb) with roast potatoes, fish and chips or take-away curry.

At the weekends people stay out later. Then they often go to a kebab shop to eat grilled meat with pitta bread. Or they may prefer fish and ships. On Sundays we often like to eat soft boiled eggs for breakfast.
